It Takes a Whole Team to Manage Diabetes and Endocrine Conditions
At the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology at Saint Mary's,
our multi-disciplinary approach to treating patients' chronic
diseases improves communication for better disease management.
For our adolescent through adult age patients with diabetes,
osteoporosis, hyperlipidemia, and other chronic conditions,
our team works collaboratively with primary physicians to
help control the disease and reduce the risk of complications.
We're
also widely recognized for specialized care for unusual and
rare endocrine conditions affecting the thyroid, pituitary,
and adrenal glands and ovaries, testes, and pancreas.
We know how difficult it can be to manage such diseases
that affect so many aspects of one's life. So we bring all
the specialists in the various disciplines together in one
location, taking care of all of you, the whole person. We
use advanced technology, therapies, treatment plans, and education
resources to help patients manage their disease. Diabetics,
for example, can meet at one location, our Peter M. Wege Institute
for Health and Learning, on the same day with a nutritionist,
dietician, podiatrist, pedorthist, ophthalmologist, nurse
specialists, pharmacist, educator, social worker, and exercise
specialist. Working together, they help patients set realistic
and attainable goals and monitor their progress to keep the
disease in check. It's a whole different approach to chronic
disease management, one that we believe works much better.
