Volunteer
Services
Dear Future Volunteer:
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at Saint Mary’s Health Care. Here at Saint Mary’s,
we consider our volunteers to be an invaluable part of our
organization. As a volunteer, you will assist us in fulfilling
the mission of Saint Mary’s.
You will find several forms in your application packet. This
information will need to be completed and returned prior to
your placement within our organization. Please follow the
instructions listed below for each item. Once all of the forms
are returned to the Volunteer Services Office, we will schedule
a time to discuss volunteer opportunities and complete the
application process.
- Application: Complete the
application form and return it to the Volunteer Services
Office. (Requires Adobe
Acrobat Reader)
- Reference Forms (2): Complete
the top portion of the reference forms and forward them
to people to whom you are not related.
(Requires Adobe
Acrobat Reader)
- List of Volunteer Opportunities:
Review the list of Volunteer Opportunities to evaluate where
you might like to be placed. While this list includes the
areas where the majority of our volunteers work, it is not
all-inclusive. If you are interested in an area that is
not listed, we can discuss the possibilities when we complete
the application process.
Job Shadow and Career Exploration Program
Saint Mary’s invites students and/or associates who wants to learn more about the health care system and possible careers into the Job Shadow Program. The new program allows Saint Mary’s to manage, monitor and evaluate quality experiences for participating students and associates.
All those seeking a job shadow experience are required to attend one job shadow/career exploration seminar, which is offered September through May. During this seminar, attendees learn general information about Saint Mary’s Health Care, organizational expectations, environment of care (safety) and necessary HIPAA/Confidentiality policies.
A clinical representative also gives a short presentation on his or her career, educational requirements and a typical day’s routine. This allows attendees to ask specific questions of the clinicians in a more suitable setting. Upon completion of seminar, should the attendees desire a job shadow in a patient care environment, the Volunteer Services department will coordinate this opportunity. Please note: One shadow experience per year will be coordinated per observer.
