The Intermediate Intensive Care Unit (IICU) is a specialized
care unit, which provides continuous care for patients admitted
on a 24-hour basis. Patients typically cared for within the
unit are long- and short-term ventilator patients, patients
requiring cardiac monitoring and post-operative patients who
require a more intense level of care.
The unit provides care for adult patients. The IICU is equipped
to monitor heart rate and hemodynamic pressures. There is
also the capability to monitor patients by use of telemetry.
The centrally located communication center is equipped with
an arrhythmia monitoring and trending system.
