Hours: 24 hours, 7 days a week
The NSU is a special care unit that provides continuous specialized
or intensive care on a 24-hour basis. Patients typically cared
for are those who require neuro-surgical intervention or intense
neurologic monitoring.
Each room is equipped to monitor heart rate, hemodynamic
pressures, intracranial pressure and pulse oximetry. Additionally,
temperature and respiration can be monitored. The centrally
located nursing station is equipped with a central arrhythmia
monitoring and trending system.
All patients within the Neuroscience Unit are visible from
the nursing station and from the patient cubicle within the
unit. The NSU has developed and implemented critical pathways
for stroke and laminectomy.
