A state-of-the-art special procedures suite offers a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services. These include digital subtraction angiography, balloon angioplasty, thrombolysis of clots in the arterial and venous system, TIPS, embolization, as well as biliary and vascular stent placement. Central venous access using PICC lines, tunneled catheters and subcutaneous ports are also offered. Needle biopsies, tube placement and drainages are also done. All patients are monitored with continuous EKG, pulse oximetryand blood pressure.

Saint Mary's Health Care continues to be the leader in West Michigan in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract. The first biliary stents and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt placements in West Michigan were done at Saint Mary's Health Care.
