issues to our clients, their families and friends, and other
organizations throughout the West Michigan community.
COUNSELING SERVICES

clients and their families with coping skills or any other
psycho-social issues related to HIV/AIDS. Referrals are also
made to other mental health specialists, and substance abuse
programs in the community.
CASE MANAGEMENT/ADVOCACY
McAuley Health Center Case
Managers are nurses and social workers, who specialize in
HIV/AIDS care and prevention. Case Managers are the first
point of contact for health questions, addressing social
needs, and referral to community resources. They can assist
with the application process for these services.
MEDICAL TREATMENT
Infectious Disease Specialists and a
full-time Nurse Practitioner provide medical treatment. Nurse
Case Managers work with clients to monitor health issues
and to coordinate care.
PHARMACEUTICAL CARE
A full-time clinical pharmacist specializing
in HIV provides services including individualized patient
medication and adherence counseling, management of side effects,
provision of HIV and drug information, and coordination of
research. The pharmacist works with the physicians to provide
optimal HIV therapy.
HOUSING SERVICES
The goal of the Housing Specialist is
to partner with clients in obtaining and maintaining adequate
affordable housing. Services include planning, advocacy,
referral to community resources, and short-term rent/mortgage
and utility assistance.
EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Limited funds are available
for uninsured and underinsured clients to help offset the
cost of prescriptions, lab fees, viral load testing, hospital,
and health center bills. Case Managers assist with applications
for these funds.
