Appointment of Interim Diversity Leader
Trinity Health has identified diversity as a pillar of its newly drafted Strategic Plan, and we at Saint Mary’s fully support this effort. We are beginning our search for a permanent Chief Diversity Officer for Saint Mary’s, which may take several months because we are conducting a national search.
While we conduct our search, I want to be sure that our diversity efforts remain at the top of our agenda. To that end, I have asked Deborah Guyton, Senior Consultant, Compensation and Benefits, to assume the role of Diversity Liaison on an interim basis until we have identified a permanent Chief Diversity Officer. Deborah has agreed to take on this role, and will report directly to me in this capacity. In this position, Deborah’s role will be to ensure that the diversity work at Saint Mary’s is linked to and synchronized with the diversity work beginning throughout all the Regional Ministry Organizations within Trinity Health.
Deborah is uniquely qualified for this role not only because of her experience in Human Resources and as a member of our Diversity Council, but also her missions work in Ghana and ministry experience. In addition, she is currently engaged in a year-long fellowship with the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) to help advance the process of creating a culturally competent organization at Saint Mary’s and to promote breakthroughs in addressing health care disparities and in improving health outcomes for culturally and racially diverse individuals Deborah is currently completing her Masters degree from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary of Cornerstone.
Please join me in congratulating Deborah on this appointment. |
