New Chief of Medical Staff Begins Two-year Term on July 1

The Medical Staff at Saint Mary's Health Care welcomes Jay P. LaBine, MD, medical director of Trauma Services, as its new Chief of Staff. LaBine replaces Terry Wright, MD, who has served in this capacity for the past two years. LaBine’s term runs from July 1, 2009-June 30, 2011.
Graduated with his doctorate in medicine from University of North Dakota, LaBine completed a fellowship in Trauma/Critical Care at the University of California Medical Center.
Leadership positions include:
- Vice Chief of Staff, 2007-2009
- Medical Director, Trauma Services, 1998-present
- President of Kent County Medical Society, 2007
- Chief of Surgery, 2006-2007
Committee service includes:
- Medical Executive Committee since 2006
- Physician Advisory Council, 2008-present
- Practitioner Excellence Committee member since 2007
- Trauma Program OPP Committee, current Chair and member since 1998
- "Holding Hands With Haiti" - founder of this non-profit mission to Haiti
- Project Access – founding board member of KCMS-sponsored program for low-income patients without health insurance
