Saint Mary's Health Care First In Michigan, One Of Few In
World To Offer TomoTherapy®
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Nov. 29, 2004 – Saint Mary’s
Health Care officials will unveil its latest in cancer-fighting
technology – TomoTherapy®, a revolutionary new medical
system that delivers conformal radiation therapy to cancer
patients –this week. The TomoTherapy® unit, the
first in Michigan and only one of 28 in the world, is housed
in the Lacks Cancer Center, slated to open to patients in
January 2005.
WHAT: Unveiling of TomoTherapy® system. TomoTherapy®
is an integrated computerized tomography, or CT, scanner and
radiation therapy unit that allows high-energy radiation therapy
with extremely accurate patient positioning.
Note: TomoTherapy® system and demonstration will
be available.
