Thomson Micromedex Changes to Elsevier


Saint Mary’s Health Care is happy to announce the selection of a new Clinical eLibrary Content tool, Elsevier. This replaces Thomson Micromedex, which will no longer be accessible on Trinity Health’s Web site by January 1, 2010. You can access Clinical eLibrary via the Novell applications and tutorials are available and can be accessed under the “Clinical eLibrary” tool.

Elsevier databases for pharmacy, nursing and medical reference materials are currently available to all credentialed and employed associates across Trinity Health. This includes those in:

  1. ambulatory care,

  2. long-term care,

  3. home health and

  4. inpatient facilities.


Elsevier’s products are available via any remote network, including EasyAccess, as well as a direct network access method within the Trinity Health system.


What Databases Elsevier Provides at Saint Mary’s:


Elsevier has installed seven of Elsevier’s online clinical decision support (CDS) solutions:

  1. Clinical Pharmacology, which delivers expert drug information;

  2. ToxED 2.0, which facilitates treatment of drug overdose emergencies;

  3. First Consult, which provides evidence-based answers at the point of care;

  4. MD Consult, which brings leading medical resources together in a single online service;

  5. Mosby’s Nursing Consult, which helps nurses find answers to pressing clinical questions;

  6. Mosby’s Nursing Skills, which presents nearly 1,000 interactive skills adapted from nursing reference texts; and

  7. Mosby’s Index, the most robust nursing and allied health journal abstracts and indexing database available.
